Award Categories & Scoring
Wines Judges will award Silver honors to wines that demonstrate above average character for the wine type and place of origin. Gold honors will be awarded to wines that deliver additional complexity and character and rise above a straightforward recommendation. Platinum awards will be reserved for the very best wines of the competition, wines that exhibit profound qualities as determined by the judges. Gold awards will be assigned a score ranging between 90 and 93 points, at the discretion of the judges. All wines awarded Platinum will be given a score ranging between 94 and 100 points. Awards and scores will be announced at www.SommelierChallenge.com and by regular mail. Spirits Judges will award spirits beverages of above average character a Silver award. Spirits beverages of exceptional quality will be awarded Gold (90-93 pts), and spirits that receive a unanimous vote of gold will be given a Platinum award (94-100 pts). Entering
A complete Wine Entry is comprised of three (3) 750ml bottles, 500 or 375ml bottles. A Spirits Entry requires two (2) 750ml or two 700ml bottles or three (3) 500ml bottles. For other sizes or types of containers, please contact the Director at SommelierChallenge@yahoo.com. For wine entries, grape varieties, residual sugar, appellation, vineyard designation, proprietary names, vintage and retail price must be listed on the entry form with each entry. The wine name, vintage and appellation will appear on the award certificate and published results, so should be given as it appears on the wine label. Residual sugar must be stated as a percentage. Please fill out the entry form completely, accurately and legibly. Keep a copy of the completed form for your records. Telephone number, email address and contact person are important. Mailing address should be the address to which awards will be mailed. Winners will be notified after the end of the Competition by email, telephone or regular U.S. mail. Results will be posted on this website and others soon after the competition. Spirits entries must list the name of the product, alcohol content, type of spirit and price.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to enter each wine or spirit in the proper category. If a category does not exist for a product you want to enter, leave the category field blank and the Competition Director will assign the wine to the correct category or create a new category, if necessary, using the varietal composition and residual sugar level or other information given as a guide. You may include tech sheets or other information that might help us determine the correct category. Products entered in the wrong category will be moved to the correct category by the Director.

Payment can also be made by Visa, Master Card and American Express. Credit card charges will appear on your statement as "Wine Cellar Productions."
